Azzera CELESTE Earn Global Recognition from World Economic Forum

Montreal, February 1st, 2024 – Azzera, a leader in providing sustainable solutions for the aviation industry, has been selected as one of the top innovators in the Sustainable Aviation Challenge hosted by UpLink. This recognition underscores Azzera’s commitment to advancing the aviation industry’s transition to Net Zero by 2050.

UpLink, a collaboration between the World Economic Forum and the First Movers Coalition, launched the Sustainable Aviation Innovation Challenge in November 2024 to identify and accelerate the most innovative and promising startups in sustainable aviation. With over 130 high-quality submissions from around the globe, Azzera stood out among 16 top innovators, recognized for its significant contributions in enabling the adoption of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and other emissions mitigation solutions.

Azzera has been at the forefront of innovation with its B2B Software-as-a-Service platform, CELESTE, which is designed to streamline emissions management for aircraft operators and governments. This platform automatically segregates flights into the correct carbon compliance market, such as the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) and Regional Emissions Trading Systems (EU ETS, UK ETS and CH ETS), saving aviation operators countless hours.

The platform intersects the data and insights directly with a marketplace for mitigation solutions such as Sustainable Aviation Fuel, compliance allowances and high-quality CORSIA-eligible carbon credits. The solution is collectively a one-stop shop for all emission-related activities, enabling cradle-to-grave emissions management. Furthermore, the embedded Azzera Book and Claim system creates a vital platform to simulate demand for SAF and propel global fuel production.

Puja Mahajan, CEO and Founder of Azzera, expressed her enthusiasm: “Being recognized as a top innovator by UpLink and WEF is a testament to our team’s dedication and hard work as we continue oursustainability efforts.  By streamlining the increasing burden of emissions compliance and subsequent mitigation, we are shaping a sustainable future where aviation thrives with reduced environmental impact. This award motivates us to continue developing cutting-edge solutions that support the aviation industry’s journey towards a more sustainable future.”

The recognition of Azzera as a top innovator in the Sustainable Aviation Challenge brings the company into the heart of the World Economic Forum’s programming, linking it with pivotal industry partners and investors. This achievement is not just an accolade for Azzera but a significant stride in its mission to steer the aviation indu
